# Reader FAQ

## What does Reader do?

It stores links you save and tracks read/unread state. Add a URL in the app or save a tab with the Chrome extension.

## How does ChatGPT use it?

Through an authenticated MCP connection with three tools: search, fetch, and set_read. ChatGPT can pull available text and mark links read when asked. Connecting requires OAuth setup and a deployed endpoint.

## What happened to the research-library features?

RSS, the built-in reader, PDFs, annotations, boards, memories, and AI chat are outside the active product. Existing saved data is retained.

## Is the extension in the Chrome store?

It is source-built for unpacked use; public distribution is deferred.
